Young Rembrandts Hosts Art Class & Supply Drive for YMCA

Young Rembrandts 'Draws' On Impact Made in Greater Kansas City with "It's in the Bag" Art Supplies Donation Event with YMCA

GREATER KANSAS CITY – The first 30 years provided communities coast-to-coast with opportunities for enriched childhood development unlike ever before. Now, Young Rembrandts is energizing Greater Kansas City by celebrating the past, present and future of its art education program.

“To celebrate the teachers, children and families that have welcomed us over the years, we’re hosting the ‘It’s in the Bag’ event to collect art supplies to donate to the YMCA, which provides crucial services and support to children in our community,” said Susan Draftz, owner of Young Rembrandts serving Kansas City, Kansas. “Being part of something with 30 years of history is incredibly exciting, and we’re ready to show Kansas City that the next 30 years are ‘In the Bag’ for Young Rembrandts.”

Young Rembrandts is commemorating this milestone by giving back to Kansas City with a drawing event in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. Students are invited to donate art supplies at classes on Monday, Jan. 15, during the YMCA’s regular Y Club programs at the following schools:

“We’re completely dedicated to providing our students with the skills they need to succeed academically and in countless other areas of their life,” said Sarah Hirtzel, owner of Young Rembrandts serving Kansas City, Missouri. “With ‘It’s in the Bag,’ we’re looking forward to giving back to the kids and families that have embraced Young Rembrandts over the years. This donation is just one way we’re saying thank you to our community.”

Students who take part in a drawing lesson provided by Young Rembrandts will enjoy a fun drawing lesson and decorate tags for bags that will be filled with the donated art supplies, which may include colored pencils, crayons, markers and sketch paper. The art supplies that students bring to the event will then be donated to the YMCA, which will distribute them to children and families in the community.

The “It’s in the Bag” event is part of a six-month celebration in which Young Rembrandts of Kansas City, Kansas, and Young Rembrandts of Kansas City, Missouri, will both be giving back to the community through a collection of local partnerships and outreach programs.

Young Rembrandts offers art and drawing classes based in the belief that when foundational art skills are taught to preschoolers and elementary students, there is a strong correlation between that involvement in the arts and academic performance.

All of Young Rembrandts’ franchisees share a common desire to enrich the lives of children.

“Our ultimate goal at Young Rembrandts is to give kids the tools they need to succeed in school and in life, and to be a strong partner in the communities we serve,” said Bette Fetter, CEO and founder of Young Rembrandts. “Our 30th Anniversary is an excellent opportunity for Sarah and Susan to show our gratitude to children and families in Kansas City.”
