• St. Louis-Area Departments Deploying Smaller Fire Apparatus for Hard-to-Reach Emergencies (firehouse.com) — Kirkwood's fire department is relying on smaller, specialized vehicles to reach fires on trails, in conservation areas, and across weight-limited bridges that big trucks can't access easily. These mini-pumpers and brush units supplement traditional engines, giving firefighters faster, cheaper options for tight spots while neighboring Des Peres adopts similar fast-attack rigs around the St. Louis area. 
• Debra Diane Huenefeld Stein (bransontrilakesnews.com) — Friends and former classmates in Kirkwood may remember Debra Diane Huenefeld Stein, a Kirkwood High School graduate who went on to study at Fontbonne and share her love of cooking in a St. Louis bakery. Her family will celebrate her life at a service in Branson on September 12, honoring her quiet strength, faith, and the care she showed through food and friendship.
