• Lee's Summit Municipal Court 'drowning' in cases; staff says court's system's outdated (kshb.com) — If you’ve spent hours waiting at Lee’s Summit Municipal Court, staff and judges say they’re feeling that strain too, with dockets reaching up to 800 cases a day. City leaders have ordered an audit, added two staffers, and are weighing more court days and probation officers to cut wait times and improve how cases are handled.
   

• Two Mizzou Tigers (one from Lee's Summit) voted to preseason All-SEC 1st-team (kansascity.com) — A former Lee’s Summit North football standout, offensive lineman Cayden Green, has been named to the preseason All-SEC first team, spotlighting local talent on Mizzou’s nationally ranked rushing offense. He’s joined by star running back Ahmad Hardy, who’s returning after a spring shooting injury, as the Tigers gear up for their Sept. 3 season opener in Columbia.
   

• Congressman Cleaver Celebrates Passage of Amendment to Provide $5 Million for Alpha-Gal Syndrome Research (house.gov) — Lee’s Summit residents are part of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s Fifth District, which just secured a bipartisan amendment adding $5 million for alpha-gal syndrome research in the 2027 defense bill. Cleaver ultimately opposed the bill over unrelated partisan provisions, but says he’ll keep working across the aisle to support national defense, civil rights, and the communities he represents.
