• Planned Parenthood preps 5,000 safer-sex kits, with condoms, for KC World Cup fans (kansascity.com) — Lee’s Summit residents now have a new Bluebox vending machine downtown that quietly offers free condoms, fentanyl test strips, and first aid kits as part of a broader World Cup health push. Planned Parenthood and local health departments are preparing thousands of safer-sex kits and expanding access to free protection, while monitoring STI risks expected to rise with the influx of visiting soccer fans. 
• Reps. Cleaver, Wasserman Schultz, Miller, Bacon Introduce Legislation to Accelerate Cures for Polycystic Kidney Disease (house.gov) — Residents of Lee’s Summit are part of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s Fifth District, and he’s co-sponsoring new bipartisan legislation to boost federal research into polycystic kidney disease. The PKD Cures Act would expand NIH efforts, create a research roadmap, and is backed by major kidney health organizations aiming to accelerate better treatments and, eventually, a cure.
• Heading to World Cup, FIFA Fan Fest? ConnectKC26 bus service providing ride to games (ksn.com) — World Cup visitors and locals can use the new ConnectKC26 bus network, which includes a Region Connect stop at 206 SW Market Street in downtown Lee’s Summit. From there, riders can reach the FIFA Fan Festival bus mall and Arrowhead Stadium on dedicated routes, with various pass options and extended hours throughout the June 11–July 13 tournament.
