Jane Doe Advocacy Center to Celebrate Grand Opening

St. Louis, MO., (August 2012) – Jane Doe Advocacy Center, a legal service center specializing in public health and sexual violence, is proud to announce their grand opening. Following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting at their office in Maplewood on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 4:30 pm, Jane Doe will host an official launch party at 6:00 pm in the Lopata House Multi-Purpose Room located on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.

Jane Doe’s ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature a symbolic teal ribbon, the symbol of sexual assault awareness and support for survivors. Attendees at the ceremony include the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce and mayor James White.

Following the ceremony, Jane Doe’s official launch party will begin with light refreshments and a silent auction featuring local artists from within the St. Louis Community. After a formal introduction by Jane Doe’s Board of Directors, the evening will conclude with a Community Bear Raffle, sponsored by Build-A-Bear® Workshop and local small businesses.

“When I noticed the lack of services available to survivors of non-domestic sexual violence, I knew I had to do something. It quickly became a project, and quitting was never an option,” said Rachna Goel, President and Founder of the Jane Doe Advocacy Center.  “Jane Doe is not ‘just another women’s organization.’ We are a public health organization that has identified a large void in the arena of legal services that specialize in sexual violence, regardless of sex, gender, or how the violence is otherwise classified.”

Jane Doe is not just here for the day after, but to provide long-term support for years after. Jane Doe’s focus on specialized long-term legal services sets it apart from any other organization that works with survivors of sexual violence. Jane Doe is launching with a long list of crisis services, sexual violence services, public health services, and outreach programs. For more information and to RSVP for the launch party, visit Jane Doe’s website at www.JaneDoeAdvocacy.org or call (314) 329-5339.
