Maplewood Richmond Heights School District Earns the Highest Score in Missouri’s State Performance Report

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has released its Annual Performance Report (APR), and the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District (MRH) received high honors once again by receiving the top score of 14. This is the third year in a row MRH has achieved the highest available score of 14.

The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test scores and other performance measures are used to develop each school district's APR. The APR provides an update on how districts are meeting state standards in 14 areas, which are the foundation for Missouri’s accreditation requirements for public schools. In addition to the test scores, attendance, graduation rates, ACT test scores and other indicators are used to determine each district's APR. It provides a practical tool for boards of education, school administrators and teachers to identify strengths and needs in their school districts and to focus their efforts on improving instruction.

“This is another great achievement for our district and validates the hard work we have been doing,” said MRH Superintendent Karen Hall. “The rigorous education provided by our teachers, coupled with a supportive and engaged community, builds the foundation for our students to achieve life-long success.“

In recent years, MRH administrators, teachers, and the Board of Education have been working to continually improve all aspects of the district. The improvements have benefited the district as the APR scores have improved. Since the current scoring system has been in place, MRH has earned the following scores:

“Just 12 years ago the district was one point away from being unaccredited by the State of Missouri,“ said MRH Board of Education President Maria Langston. “Together, working with the community and faculty, we have transformed MRH into a district that is respected regionally and nationally for its innovation and provides its students a top-notch education.”

A K-12 school district must meet at least nine of the 14 accreditation standards to be fully accredited and at least six to be provisionally accredited.
