NATIONAL CHURCHILL MUSEUM ACQUIRES NEW CHURCHILL ARTIFACTS

The National Churchill Museum on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, MO, has acquired some new personal items of Sir Winston Churchill, which are now on display.

Museum visitors will see a cigar humidor presented to Churchill as a gift on his 1946 visit to Cuba, a trip that also included a stop in Fulton to deliver his famous "Iron Curtain" speech, and another cigar humidor that he received as a special gift from U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.  Other items included in this gift are a small leather bedside clock and a wooden clothing brush.

These artifacts were acquired from the son of Churchill's butler William Greenshields.  Greenshields served Churchill from 1948-1953.

Other items include three partially smoked cigars that have been preserved in Lucite, compliments of Richard J. Mahoney, and a 24 volume set of centenary first edition works of Churchill, compliments of Travis Traylor.

The National Churchill Museum on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, Mo, is the only North American institution fully devoted to immortalizing the life and work of Churchill.  The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  For more information, visit www.nationalchurchillmuseum.org.
