The Clayton Chamber of Commerce is calling out to all of most talented karaoke singers in St. Louis for the third annual Clayton Idol karaoke contest, presented by Huntleigh McGehee and Double D Karaoke. The competition begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at Double D Karaoke, 1740 South Brentwood Blvd. The top two singers compete to win more than $500 in prizes and perform a song of his or her choice at Parties in the Park in Downtown Clayton on Sept. 12.

Spectators vote for their favorite singers with a donation to this year’s charity, The American Red Cross of Greater St. Louis. The singer that receives the most in donations from audience members will be awarded the title of 2012 Clayton Idol and have the opportunity to sing one song at Parties in the Park in Downtown Clayton on Sept. 12. The top two singers then square off to win a special prize package worth more than $500, including a one-night stay at the Moonrise Hotel, dinner for two at The Grill in the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Clayton, a $50 gift certificate to Miso, a one-month membership to Wellbridge Club and Spa with two free personal training sessions and a gift certificate to Lusso’s.

Singers are encouraged to register by Aug. 10. The cost to participate or attend is $20 and includes appetizers, two drinks and live karaoke entertainment. Spectators are asked to purchase their tickets in advance to reserve a seat and receive the special advance pricing. If space permits, tickets are available at the door for $25. Participants and guests must be 21 to attend.
