Olivette, Missouri: Today, 17 Missouri Representatives from St. Louis County released a letter of support for local municipalities to end discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community along with statements by Olivette Councilman Leif Hauser, Representative Stacy Newman, Representative Scott Sifton, United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Civil Rights Analyst Frank Montgomery, and SEIU Local 1 Vice President Nancy Cross. Unfortunately in most parts of St. Louis County, gay people can still be fired from their job for being gay, lesbians can be denied a home, and transgender citizens can be denied access to coffee shops and libraries. In the region, St. Louis City, University City, Olivette, Clayton and Richmond Heights are the Cities that have stood up against discrimination for the LGBT community. Currently Missouri as well as the Federal Government do not protect the LGBT community in employment, housing and public accommodations. Will St. Louis County end discrimination once and for all?
