How interesting. Got an anonymous phone call about the Rose Avenue Neighborhood being torn down and THERE WAS NO OUTCRY of 'racism'. This is as opposed to the very hot topic of BHGH being NOT A GOOD FIT for Madge Ave. I was against that project--but was amazed that the same love and respect for an African American iconnic enclave --dating back to 1900 could be trashed to the ground without a social peep...Aparently there is a U-Tube video I need to see that points out the hypocracy apparently alive and vocal in re to Brentwood. I grew up in an all Black neighborhood, attended SMM which was integrated by dictum since 1955---before Civil Rights were front page ink. I had "aunties and uncles" that i had to be told they were not my blood relatives. I'm not dumb, but i am color-blind. So all the people who rage on about a BAD idea so recently need to do a conscience review imo. I am not intending to be an agitator, but really: where was the rage when THE STABLE, ALL AFRICAN-AMERICAN, FAMILY IN TACT, RAISING THEIR OWN FAMILIES IN BRENTWOOD--was eliminated?? Housing 20 scholars in a lot that is a BAD FIT does not square with the elimination and displacement of Life-long African Americans citizens in Brentwood whose blood, sweat and tears built since the turn of the century, a model of cultural stability and elevated equality in a world that didn't really accept it---Forcing a BAD FIT is not racist; leveling an entire Black community for a parking lot and some stores ....well--to say more would be against my Faith... How can i see the U-Tube video? (not techno-savvy, just like i'm a terrible speller and editor!) best regards and thank you to whomever called and left me the message. love, maureen
