Brentwood Soccer Grabs First Win

The weekly sports roundup offers updates on Brentwood sports.

The Brentwood boys soccer team picked up its first win of the year on Wednesday, when it defeated Hancock 4-3.

The Eagles had lost their first six contests of the year, and had only scored five goals all year, when they exploded for four scores in the second half, in a thrilling home win over the Tigers.

This week, Brentwood has three matches scheduled.

On Monday, the Eagles will play at North County Tech; on Tuesday, they’ll play Valley Park at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton; and on Friday, Brentwood will play at Bayless.

All three matches are scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

The Brentwood girls softball team is just 2-8 this season, but boy, have the two Eagle wins been something else.

On September 13, Brentwood got its first win of the season with a 34-17 whooping over McCluer South-Berkeley.

Last week, the Eagles nearly duplicated that effort, with a 30-16 win over Bayless at the Affton Athletic Association complex.

Senior Alaina Youngstrom had a career-day for Brentwood in the win, posting three hits, a home run, six RBIs, and four runs scored.

The victory was especially exciting for the Eagles, who trailed 14-10 after four innings, but scored 20 runs in the final two innings to seal the win.

This week, Brentwood will play two home games at .

On Thursday, the Eagles will host Bayless, and on Friday, they’ll take on Hancock.

Both those games will start at 4 p.m.
