Sports Update: MRH Volleyball Named No. 2 Seed
A weekly look at what's going on with in local high school sports.
The district football playoffs and the final week of the girls volleyball regular season are the big news in local high school sports this week, as teams from all three Midtown-area high schools get ready for one of their biggest weeks of the season.
In football news, the squad delivered another spectacular performance last Saturday afternoon, as it , in a game played at Roosevelt High in South City.
Junior quarterback Kahlid Hagens passed for 207 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Blue Devil offense, while fellow junior Karon Thomas scored on run plays, pass plays, and returned an interception 60 yards for four total touchdowns, as MRH improved to 6-2 on the season.

The victory also gave MRH a 1-0 mark in district play, and means the Devils can secure for themselves a spot in the playoffs with a home win over Northwest Academy this coming Friday night at 7 p.m.

Starting next Monday, MRH volleyball will host the Class 2 District 5 tournament as a No. 2 seed.
The Blue Devils will open with a match against Lift for Life Academy next Monday at 6 p.m.
Before that match though, MRH will host its Senior Night festivities on Wednesday, with a regular-season closing match against Metro High of St. Louis.
For the season, the Devils are 12-15, and are considered one of the dark horse favorites to advance to the state playoffs this year.
