No Right-Turn Sign Among Council Agenda Items

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Maplewood City Hall.

Removing the no-right turn sign from Arbor Avenue onto Flora Avenue highlights the list of agenda items scheduled for Tuesday night's Maplewood City Council meeting at . The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m.

Public disapproval of the sign resulted in two petitions with more than 50 percent of residents in the 7300 block of Flora requesting the sign be removed and speed bumps be installed.

The sign was added more than 15 years ago to discourage traffic. Homeowners have said it has become an inconvenience.

  • Carolyn Brown, accounting manager for the city, is scheduled to be honored for her 33 years of service to the city. She is retiring.
  • The council is set to discuss a contract between the Metropolitan Sewer District and the City of Maplewood for the construction and maintenance of a rain garden to be located near the Deer Creek Trail. A rain garden is a small, depressed garden and drainage system to slow stormwater from eroding the soil. Maplewood city officials believe the garden will minimize flooding conditions that frequently occur along the trail near the Laclede Station overpass.   

  • The  is, once again, on the U.S. Postal Service facilities list for possible closure. City council is scheduled to discuss the possible closure.
