Race to the Square Will Benefit Brentwood Schools

Run either one mile or five kilometers.

Saturday morning is the annual Race to the Square to benefit educational enrichment programs and activities for teachers and students in the Brentwood School District. One mile and five kilometer races are a part of the event.

Both courses will begin at the Brentwood Square shopping center on Brentwood Boulevard. The runners will then wind through the neighborhood streets to the south, then return back to Brentwood Square. Volunteer Brentwood students will help out along the course.

Race organizer and Brentwood resident Patty Jones said both the one mile and five kilometer courses have been certified for their distances. The race has been promoted around the St. Louis racing community, so runners come from outside the area. There is an incentive for Brentwood students to run though: the Brentwood school with the largest percentage of runners gets $500.

Earlier, it was possible to register by mail or online. Online registration is now closed. It is still possible to register for the race from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Friday and from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. on Saturday at in Brentwood Square.

If you have already registered, packet pick-up runs from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 7:20 a.m. at R.E.I. too.
