Boys Cross Country repeats as Conference Champs!

FZN wins their second consecutive GAC Central title.

The FZN Boys Cross Country team successfully defended their conference crown at this year's GAC Central race held last week at Rotary Park in Wentzville. The boys placed 5 individual runners in the top 15 to easily outpace second place Liberty. In cross country, the top five runners earn team points. Each team then earns points based on the individual placements (example 1st place = 1 point). Each team's goal is to have as low of a score as possible. With runners finishing 2nd (Hunter Boker), 3rd (Chris Allensworth), 4th (Jerald Caldwell), 5th (Sean Deeken), and 15th (Cole Sutton), the Panthers finished with an over team score of 29 points. Second place, Liberty, scored 66 points. Each individual placing the top 14 earned "All-Conference" status. Head Coach Josh Janisse stated, "The team has worked extremely hard for the past few years. It's great to see their hard work pay off by being back to back conference champions. We are now shifting our focus to qualifying for the state meet." This was the second time in school history that a Panther cross country team has won back-to-back titles. A feat first accomplished by the 2009 - 2010 teams.

The FZN Girls team had two individuals earn "All-Conference" status: Jocelyn Quiles (5th) and Morgan Avery (9th). It was the 4th conference medal for Qulies and 3rd for Avery. Both girls qualified for the state meet last season.

The FZN Harriers will host the MSHSAA District race at McNair Park in St. Charles on October 22. The first race is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am.
