
FZN Senior Kennedy Cox recently signed to wrestle at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. Cox was a member of the first girls wrestling team at Fort Zumwalt North. She completed the season with an 18 – 4 overall record, winning three individual tournament championships along the way. She was one of two Panthers to capture a conference title this past season. A newcomer to the sport of wrestling, Cox is a long-time cross-fit enthusiast who has competed in several cross-fit competitions as a member of the Head-Strong gym. In addition, Cox is a nationally ranked Olympic-style weightlifter. She is currently ranked 6th in the nation for her age group in Olympic style-lifting. A well-rounded student, Cox serves as the Fort Zumwalt North senior class president. An honor-student, who sports a lofty 4.2 GPA, she was placed on the GAC wrestling “All-Academic” team.
Lindenwood competes as a member of the WCWA (Women’s College Wrestling Association) and was one of the first college’s in the nation to sponsor a women’s wrestling team during the 2009/2010 school year. Cox is the first female from Fort Zumwalt North to go on to wrestle in college.
