In an effort to increase earthquake awareness during the bicentennial of the Great New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812, the St. Charles County TEEN CERT program, in conjunction with Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and St. Charles County LEPC Citizen Corps Council (SC5) are holding an "Earthquake Awareness and the New Madrid Seismic Zone" on April 23, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. - Noon. This 2-3 hour program will discuss how to prepare for and protect yourself during earthquakes, earthquake response and recovery, and loss-reduction, as well as talk about the potential for other earthquakes in addition to another 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Missouri.
