FZN Athletics - Week in Review (8/26 - 8/31)

Football

The Panthers opened their season with an impressive 28 - 6 victory on the road over highly regarded St. Charles West (#5 - St. Louis Post Dispatch - Small Schools). The team was led by the outstanding play of Quarterback - Brenden Pierce, who threw for one touchdown and ran for another. Dion Lewis rushed for two touchdowns. Defensive standouts for the Panthers included - Killian Sneed, Luke Sammelmann, and Justin Fitzpatrick. The Panthers return to action this Friday as they play host to Mehlville - 7:00 pm

Softball

The Softball team finished 2 - 2 on the week as they opened their season in the Troy Tournament. The team recorded victories over Highland (IL) and Fort Zumwalt South - scoring a combined 25 runs in their two wins! The team was narrowly defeated by Timberland (3 -2) and also fell to Troy (10 - 3). Abby Hlavaty (2 - 0) pitched in both victories. Andrea Gowen, Lauren King, Abby Tillotson, Katlyn Garza, Taylor Dames, and Niki Swafford all had a big weekend at the plate. The Softball Panthers play host to Francis Howell (9/3 - 4:15 pm), and Fort Zumwalt East (9/6 - 4:15 pm) this week, while traveling to Holt (9/4 - 4:15 pm)

Girls Golf

The Girls Golf team opened the season with a loss to cross-town rival Fort Zumwalt West. Maddi Feguson led all golfers to earn the title of individual medalist with a score of 44.

The Golf team will play two matches this week - 9/3 vs. Francis Howell Central - 3:30 pm at St. Peters G.C., and 9/4 vs. Francis Howell - 3:30 pm at St. Peters G.C.

Girls Tennis

The Tennis team split their two matches during the opening week of play. The team fell to Fort Zumwalt West (1-8) before defeating Troy (8 - 1). The victory over Troy was the first conference victory in school history! Chole Steyer went 2 - 0 on the week in individual play.

The tennis team returns to action on Wednesday (9/4) at the travel to conference rival Fort Zumwalt South - 3:30 pm.

Boys Soccer

The team dropped a pair of games over the weekend. Losing a tough battle to Fort Zumwalt South (2 - 1) last Friday, before falling to McCluer North (0 - 2) on Saturday. Eric Beyers scored the team's only goal.

The Panthers return to action this week in the FZN Tournament. On Wednesday the Panthers will take on St. Charles at 5:30 pm (Soccer Field)
