FZN Band members earn high marks!

FZN collects the highest medal count in school history at MSHSAA event.

Several members of the FZN band recently competed in the MSHSAA State Solo/Ensemble competition held on the campus of the University of Missouri on April 28th. As a whole the FZN band students earned 28 gold medals (1 ratings) and 45 medals overall! According to FZN Band Director Rob Babel this is the highest total ever achieved in a single year for Fort Zumwalt North.

The following students earned medals at the MSHSAA State Solo/Ensemble Festival:

Gold (Solos):

Sydney Elsenraat – Trumpet

Ethan Hoeman – Trumpet

Ian Prinster – Alto Sax

Austin Stolze – Trumpet

Brendan Hoffmann – Clarinet

Silver (Ensembles):

Brass Quintet – Lane Burwell, Adam Kehoe, Carter Simonds, Will Conklin, Tori Allinger

Silver (Solos):

Lucy Kampman – Trumpet

Alyssa Martin – Baritone Sax

Aiden Carpenter – Piano

Morgan Hopkins – Clarinet

Miles Rogers – Tenor Sax

Jacob Jacquin – Trumpet

Eve Havener – Flute

Ethan Busse – Marimba

Julia Darter – Clarinet

Bronze (Ensemble):

Trumpet Trio – Sydey Elsenraat, Jacob Breeze, Miguel De La Cruz Sandoval

Mr. Babel credited his assistant director Matt Schultz for the vast improvements seen in the solo/ensemble performances over the last few years. Mr. Babel stated, “He has coordinated the groups and encouraged many more students to participate, and he has helped the groups in additional rehearsals during class time and outside of school.”
