FZN Boys Basketball wraps up season

Alkahldi earns 2nd team "All-Conference" honors.

The FZN boys basketball team recently wrapped up their 2018 - 2019 season. The Panthers finished with a 10 - 16 overall mark including a 5 - 5 mark in conference play. The Panthers achieved many team and individual accomplishments throughout the season. The Panthers won 3rd place at the Borgia Turkey Tournament and earned 2nd place at the FZN Invitational. Their 5 - 5 conference record was good enough for 3rd place in the highly competitive GAC Central. The Panther had a series of near-misses this season as they held the lead in the 4th quarter in five of their losses. Bad luck played a factor in the team's play down the stretch as the flu forced the Panthers to play a different line-up in each of their last five games.

Leading the way for the Panthers were Kyle Bampton and Mujtaba Alkhadi with 10.5 pointes per game while KJ Lee and Grant Rapplean both scored 9.7 points per game. Senior Jeff Lewis averaged 6.5 points per game. Grant Rapplean and Kyle Bampton both were selected to the Borgia "All-Tournament" team while KJ Lee, Rapplean, and Mujtaba Alkhadi all made the FZN Invitational "All-Tournament" team. Mujtaba Alkhadi earned 2nd team "All-Conference" and 1st team "All-District" honors. Grant Rapplean, Mujtaba Alkahldi, Ronald Cross and Sean Grimes all earned "All-Conferece" academic honors. Sean Grimes was selected for the team's GAC Central "Sportsmanship" award.

Several Panthers earned a spot in the FZN Basketball record book:
