FZN Fall Sports - Week in Review

Panther athletics enter the 4th week of the fall MSHSAA sports calendar.

Softball

The Panthers scored an extra inning victory over Pattonville in their most recent game. The Panthers continue to be led by the outstanding play of freshmen Kiana Noel, who is batting a whopping .500 on the season. McKenna Dydell is the team's leading pitcher and does her part at the plate as well, batting .400 with 12 RBI's on the season.

The Panther softball team travels to Liberty on Thursday before finishing the week with a home contest against Ritenour. Both games have a 4:15 pm start time.

Soccer

The Panthers had a big week on the pitch, defeating conference foe Fort Zumwalt South twice, while scoring non-conference wins over Ritenour and Parkway North. Roman Merris (14) and Colby Thomas (10) lead the team in points. Keeper - Kaleb Wilson has posted back-to-back shutouts.

This week the Panthers host two conference games: tonight against Holt and Thursday against Fort Zumwalt East. Both games are scheduled to start at 6:45 pm.

Girls Golf

Girls golf picked up a conference win by earning all 10 conference points over Warrenton. This puts FZN's conference point standings at 29 - 11 with 2 matches left. The Panthers are currently in 3rd place and will play the top 2 teams to finish with a chance to win the GAC! Mackenzie Valentine had the low score of the match for the 2nd time this season.

The Panthers travel to Washington for a conference match today at 3:30 pm.

Cross Country

The Panther “Harriers” had another great week at the Forest Park Cross Country Festival where the team saw the varsity girls take home the first place trophy out of 21 teams! The varsity boys took 6th place out of 18 teams.

Panther medalists were:

Varsity Girls- Peyton Spellazza, Zoe Johnson & Jailyn Ebert

Varsity Boys- Taylor Mason

Girls Tennis

Through two weeks of play in Girl's Tennis, Lucy Paro is 7-1 in singles play and Bekah Bacon is 5-3. The team lost in the championship match in the Troy tournament. The Panthers are now heading into the second half of the season with 7 matches to go.

The Panthers travel to Washington for a GAC match-up at 4:00 pm today, before hosting Fort Zumwalt East (Thursday) and Hazelwood West (Friday) later this week. All Panther home tennis matches begin at 3:30 pm.

Boys Swimming

The boys swim and dive team dropped a close meet to Liberty last week. The “Swimcats” are back in the pool this Friday as they travel to Washington to face Borgia. The meet at Borgia is scheduled to begin at 4:15 pm.

Girls Volleyball

The “Volleycats” played in two 5 set thrillers last week, winning in five at North Point, before falling in five to Fort Zumwalt South. Last weekend, the Panthers completed a 1 – 3 – 1 mark at the North County tournament. This week the Panthers play host to Holt on Tuesday, and will then host Fort Zumwalt East on Thursday. All home varsity volleyball matches have a scheduled 5:00 pm start time. Admission is free.
