FZN Football notches a "Homecoming" victory!

The Panthers move to 5 -0 on the season.

Last Friday, the FZN football team prevailed in a thrilling 28 - 21 victory over Fort Zumwalt East. The game marked the first time a “Homecoming” game had been played on a Friday night since the 1986 season. Playing before a large crowd, which included large group of alumni in attendance, the Panthers held on to defeat a very game Fort Zumwalt East. During the first half of play it was the Panther offense that rolled, led by the rushing of Cade Brister, Austin Cox, Deiondre Stockton, and Marcus Jones. Stockton had 2 rushing touchdowns, while Jones and Brister each recorded one. The second half was dominated by defense, as both teams had difficulty moving the ball. Leading tacklers for the Panthers were Jake Cecil, Blake Wilson, and Tay Robinson. Marcus Jones added an interception while Blake Wilson and Jaylin Vaughn each recorded two sacks. With the victory, the Panthers moved to 5 - 0 on the season. On special teams, Jonathan Banowetz continued to be a source of strength for the Panthers, as he recorded a touchback each time the Panthers kicked off.

This Friday (9/25) the Panthers travel across Hwy. 70 to face long-time rival Fort Zumwalt South (4 - 1). The game could go a long way in determining conference and district standings. North and South are the two oldest high schools in the Fort Zumwalt School District and have enjoyed a spirited rivalry over the years. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
