FZN sponsors first Girls Wrestling team!

FZN Girls Wrestling is off to a 5- 0 start in dual meet competition.

This school year marks a historic year for the Fort Zumwalt North Activities program as the school is sponsoring a girls wrestling team for the first time. Last spring, the Missouri State High School Activities Association added Girls Wrestling as a official sport beginning in the 2018 - 2019 school year. It was left up to the member schools if they wanted to add Girls Wrestling to their existing athletic program. All four Fort Zumwalt High Schools are sponsoring the sport.

FZN currently has a roster of 13 girls, only one who had previous wrestling experience. So far this season, the team has competed in two tournaments finishing 3rd at both the Fort Zumwalt North and Fort Zumwalt East Invitationals. In addition to competing in tournaments, the girls squad has wrestled 5 official dual meets, winning each of those contests, included a sweep over the other three Zumwalt schools at the Zumwalt Quad.

At the Fort Zumwalt North tournament, the squad placed four individuals in the top 3. Each of the top three finishers earned medals at the event. Those placing at FZN include: Zoe Santa-Cruz - 3rd, Amanda Medina-Martinez 2nd, Kennedy Cox - 3rd, Alana Vogt - 2nd
