FZN Volleyball completes record breaking season!
The Panthers set a new school mark for wins in a single season.

The FZN girls volleyball team captured a share of the GAC Central title by virtue of an 8 - 2 conference record. The conference championship is just the 2nd conference title in school history for the Panthers, who won the GAC North title in 2012. In addition to winning the conference championship, the Panthers set a new school mark for wins in a single season. The team won an impressive 24 games during the 2016 campaign. The Panthers also defeated long time area power, Washington High School, for the first time. A feat they accomplished twice during the season. First year head coach Mark Morrison stated, "I give a lot of credit to my predecessor, former coach Scott Clynes. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to coach such a fine group of young women." Morrison went on to praise the senior class for providing leadership throughout the season. He stated, "Our senior leadership was outstanding. The comradery of the team was also a major factor in the success we had this season. I just can't say enough about our seniors. They have left a nice foundation for future teams to build on." The senior team members include: Mercedes Vomund, Anna Durnin, Jamie Hauser, Tiana Jackson, Miranda Hoecklemann, and Gabrielle Rohling.
The Panthers finished the season with an overall mark of 24 - 5 - 1. The team fell to top-ranked Francis Howell in district play. Over the course of the season, the Panthers won the tournament title at the Alton (IL) Redbird Classic and finished 2nd at the Ritenour Tournament.
