FZN Volleycats off to a hot start!

FZN volleyball wins their first three contests.

The FZN volleyball team recently completed their first week of competition, playing three contests last week. The Volleycats emerged from those three contests with an undefeated record and now stand at 3 – 0 on the season. The Panthers opened their season on Tuesday against St. Charles High, sweeping the Pirates in two games, before facing the other St. Charles school, St. Charles West, on Wednesday. The Warriors proved to be a formidable challenge, taking the first set from the Panthers. The Panthers rallied and forced a third set where they prevailed in the marathon match 32 – 30. The Panthers finished the week on Thursday, defeating conference foe Fort Zumwalt East in two games. The JV programs also remains undefeated. In addition to winning their three regular season contests, the JV team also claimed top honors at the Jefferson Tournament. Head Coach Mark Morrison stated, “We want to keep improving and continue to help our younger players improve. We have had a great start to the season, but it’s a new week and the grind continues. We want to maintain our hunger. We must stay focused week in and week out.

This week the Panthers travel to Hazelwood West today (9/10) for a 5:00 pm match-up before returning home to face Fort Zumwalt South on Thursday (9/12) at 5:00 pm.
