
Wrestling
The varsity wrestling team wrapped up the dual meet portion of their schedule last week as they defeated Hannibal 51 - 12. The team finished the season with an 8 - 3 dual meet record. It marked the 16th straight “Winning” season for the program.
Last weekend, the FZN grapplers competed in the Desoto Invitational where the Panthers finished 2nd in the 18 team event. Senior Shaun Beeman won his 5th individual tournament title of the season and was named the meet’s “Outstanding Wrestler”. Jack Ederer (145 lbs.) also claimed the individual title at his weight class. Other wrestlers earning medals at Desoto include: Teddy Hickey (106. lbs) 3rd, Jeremiah Ewing (126 lbs.) 4th, Chauncey Adams (132 lbs.) 5th, Cameron Pickering (138 lbs.) 2nd, Chris Viehmann (152 lbs.) 3rd, Cole Daniels (160 lbs.) 5th, Nate O’Neal (195 lbs.) 4th, Zach Steele (220 lbs.) 4th, Alex Jetton (285 lbs.) 2nd.

The wrestlers have completed the regular season portion of the schedule. The will next compete in the MSHSAA Class 3 District 2 tournament hosted by Fort Zumwalt North the weekend of February 12 - 13.
Girls Basketball

The varsity girls basketball team was idle last week. They currently stand at 11 - 6 on the season. Tori Nesslage (9.6 ppg.) and Rachel Pudlowski (9.3 ppg.) lead the team in scoring.
The girls return to action tomorrow (2/2) night as they travel to Fort Zumwalt East for a GAC Central match-up. Tip off at East is scheduled for 5:30 pm. On Wednesday (2/4), the girls will play for “Bragging Rights” on Tom Ginnever Avenue as they host neighbor Christian High at 6:00 pm. The girls will wrap up the week with another home game on Friday against conference foe, Holt. Friday’s game has a 5:30 pm tip off.
Boys Basketball
The varsity boys basketball team has won four of their last five contests. The team currently stands at 11 - 9 on the season, but they remain undefeated (4 - 0) in conference play. The team defeated highly regarded rival, Fort Zumwalt South, in their most recent conference game. The game against South was decided on a last second shot by Senior Austin Schwerdt. The victory placed the Panthers in sole possession of 1st place in the conference standings. The Panthers followed up the victory over South by winning two of three games at the FZN Invitational. The Panthers defeated Troy in the 3rd place game at the tournament. In the game against Troy, the Panthers prevailed in the last second as Junior Eric Rothermich drained a jump shot in the closing moments of the game. The Panthers had trailed Troy by as many as 24 points before rallying in the second half.
This week the Panthers travel to Fort Zumwalt East on Tuesday (2/2 - 7:00 pm) before returning to host Holt on Friday (2/5 - 7:00 pm)
Girls Swimming and Diving
The swim cats stand at 10 - 11 on the season. The Panthers have been led by standout, TJ Duckett, who remains undefeated on the season. Michaela Russ has performed well for the Panthers in the breaststroke.
The Panthers will swim their final home meet of the season this Thursday (2/4) against Fort Zumwalt East. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
