FZN Senior Seth Gleason recently signed a “Letter of Intent” to participate in both track and cross country at UMKC (The University of Missouri – Kansas City). Gleason, who began running his freshmen year of high school, completed an outstanding fall cross country season in which he qualified for the state championships while claiming individual titles at the GAC Central meet and the Forest Park Festival. Gleason earned medals in every regular season meet that he competed in last fall. In addition to racking up top finishes throughout the season, Gleason broke the school’s long standing mark in a 5K (3.1 mile) race when he recorded a 16:05 at the FZN “Twilight” Invitational. This spring Gleason is expected to compete in multiple distance events for the Panther track team. An excellent student-athlete, Gleason is a high academic achiever with an impressive 4.4 GPA. For his efforts in the classroom, Gleason was placed on the GAC “All-Academic” team in each of his competitive seasons in both track and cross country. At UMKC, Gleason plans to study either Engineering or Computer Science.
UMKC, whose moniker is the Kangaroos, is an NCAA Division 1-member school that competes in athletics as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
