Panther athletes qualify for State competition!
Swimming and Cross Country send athletes to State.
Fort Zumwalt North recently qualified athletes for state competitions in both swimming and cross country. In cross country, Freshmen Emily Howell qualified for the state championships by virtue of her 21st place finish the sectional meet held last Saturday on the campus of Parkway Central High School. The top thirty finishers at the sectional race qualified for state. A newcomer to the sport, Howell continued to show improvement of the course of the season. The State meet will take place this Saturday (11/4) at Oak Hills Golf Course located in Jefferson City. The race is scheduled to begin at 11:20 am.
In the pool, the FZN Swimcats qualified the 200 medley relay team consisting of Gabe Carlson, Tyler Finney, Chance Orf, and Teddy Hickey. Carlson also qualified as an individual in the 200 m backstroke. Carlson and Finney are both seniors, Orf and Hickey are juniors. It it the first time the any of the four have qualified for the state swimming championships. Hickey had previously qualified for state in the sport of wrestling. The state swimming and diving championships will be held this Thursday and Friday (11/2 - 11/3) at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. The Panthers compete in the Class 1 division with open ceremonies schedule to begin at 9:00 am.
