Panther grapplers wrap up 2018 season.

FZN wins a share of the GAC Central title!

The FZN wrestling team recently completed a successful 2017 - 2018 season. The Panthers finished the season with a share of the GAC Central title by virtue of their 4 - 1 record in conference dual meets. It is the first conference title for the Panther wrestling team since the 2010 season. In addition to their conference success, the Panthers won three (FZN, Desmet, St. Charles) tournament titles during the season. In dual meets the Panthers finished the year with a 14 - 2 mark, the best such record since the 2011 season when the Panthers finished 12 - 3. Seven individual wrestlers placed at the District meet to qualify for the state championships held last weekend in Columbia. Those seven include: Nathan Burns (12), Teddy Hickey (11), Logan Prinster (10), Jack Ederer (12), Derrick Buda-Smith (10), Cameron Pickering (12), and Nate O'Neal (12). Pickering, who claimed the individual title at the District meet, finished 5th at State to earn "All-State" status. Pickering is the first Panther wrestler to earn a state medal in Class 4 competition since the 1999 season. The Panthers competed as a Class 3 school in wrestling during the years 2001 - 2016.
