Panthers to host the Bulldogs on the "Pitch"!

FZN Soccer is off to a 4 - 1 start this season.

Tonight at Robert Fisher Stadium the FZN soccer team will host long-time rival Fort Zumwalt South in an early pivotal GAC Central showdown. Both teams have had strong starts this season. The Panthers enter the game with a 4 – 1 record, their only loss was a 2 – 1 set-back in the pool championship of the “Zumwalt” Classic to Francis Howell Central. The Bulldogs, defending Class 3 State Champions, enter the game with a perfect 4 – 0 record. The Bulldogs, under Coach Jim Layne, have a great tradition in the sport and remain a contender for another state title. The Panthers have a vastly improved team and hope to be a contender in the highly competitive GAC Central conference. They have been led by defensive stand-outs: Owen Sears, Tommy DeAvilla and Davis Herbst. Cole Bixby leads the Panthers in scoring. He has 9 points on the year with 4 goals and 1 assist. Sears has 8 points on the season with 3 goals and 2 assists. Panthers coach Brian Kelleher stated, “We are heading in the right direction, but we still need to work hard and make improvements. We’ve had a good showing on the defensive side of the ball and have been capitalizing on our offensive opportunities. Offensively we have been spreading the scoring around to numerous players.”

Tonight’s varsity game is expected start at 7:00 pm.
