North defeats South to maintain the traveling helmet trophy.

An early onslaught of points propelled the FZN football team to a 63 – 0 victory over their long-time rival Fort Zumwalt South. With the victory, the Panthers maintain the traveling helmet trophy awarded to the winner of each season’s regular season contest. The Panthers, who led 35 – 0 at the end of the 1st quarter of play, dominated in all phases of the game to cruise to their 5th victory of the season. Quarterback Cairo Payne proved to be the catalyst in the Panther offensive attack. Payne rolled up 121 yards rushing on 5 attempts, scoring on runs of 58 and 21 yards. In addition, Payne was a perfect 5 for 5 in passing attempts while throwing for two scores. Both of Payne’s scoring throws were to Tyler Oaks, who nabbed throws of 34 and 17 yards for his two receiving touchdowns. Oaks, who now has a total of 7 touchdowns on the season, also scored on a 79-yard touchdown run. Izaiah Hartrup added to his team leading 8 touchdowns by scoring on a 10-yard carry to open the scoring for the night. Two other Panthers carried the ball across the goal line for the Panther offense: Jack Newcomb and Cameron Stoehner.

The Panther defense continued their impressive season as they recorded their first shut-out of 2019. Leading the way for the Panthers were Parker Monnig, Jeremiah Dickerson, Max Martin and Chris Futrell. Monnig added three sacks to up his season total to 15! While Futrell scored the game’s only defensive touchdown as he picked up a fumble and carried it 29 yards for a 1st quarter touchdown.
