
The FZN football team advanced to the District Championship game with a 50 – 8 victory over Fort Zumwalt East last Friday. By virtue of their victory over East, the Panthers will host Chaminade in the Class 5 District 3 Championship game to by hosted by FZN, where the Panthers will attempt to win their 8th straight district title. The game is scheduled to be played tonight with kickoff at 7:00 pm.
Against East, the Panthers notched their 7th consecutive victory of the season to improve to 7 – 3 on the season. The starting defense continued to shine, allowing just one score on the night. Leading performers were Spencer Steinmeyer with 11 tackles, Tyler Witt & Colin LaBell with 10, Andrew Hoppe with 9 tackles, Connor O’Neal & PJ Henderson with 8 and Chris Reckel with 7 tackles and an interception.
On offense, Payton Hoker threw for 232 yards and 4 touchdowns, Braden Miller had 2 receiving touchdowns and Chris Reckel, Jalen Lee, Zach McGee, Miles Weddington and DJ Jones each scored once.

Chaminade, which is a member of the formidable Metro Catholic Conference, will enter the district title game with a 6 – 5 record. The Red Devils and Panthers last met in 2019, when the Panthers defeated the Red Devils 24 – 21 in the state quarterfinal contest. Admission to this evening’s contest is $5.00. Gates open at 6:00 pm.
