The FZN football team improved to 6 - 0 on the season with a convincing 63 - 27 victory over Fort Zumwalt South. This is the second consecutive season the Panthers have reached the six win mark without a loss. The victory over South was the third (West, East, South) this season over another Zumwalt school. Last season, FZN was the first district school to score a victory over all the others on the gridiron. The win also guaranteed the Panthers a least a share of the GAC Central title.
Major offensive contributors were Cade Brister (5 touchdowns and 240 yards rushing), and Marcus Jones (2 touchdowns and 100 yards rushing). On defense, the team was led by Blake ”The Bus” Wilson and Dre’ Hathaway, who shared the team lead for tackles. Dacey Brister provided the top play of the night when he stripped the ball from a Bulldog running back and returned it 60 yards for a defensive touchdown. Jon Banowetz converted on all nine extra-point attempts.
The Panthers hope to continue their winning ways this Friday (10/2) as they host the Holt Indians in their final GAC Central game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 pm.
