
The FZN football team defeated Fort Zumwalt East 62 – 20 last Friday, to win their second straight contest. After falling behind 14 – 0 in the early moments of the game, the Panthers reeled off 55 points before the Lions were once again able to put points on the board. Panther quarterback Payton Hoker completed 15 of 21 passes for 281 yards and 4 touchdowns. All-purpose back, Chris Reckel, continued his fine season, rushing and receiving the ball for a total of 67 yards while scoring 3 touchdowns. Zach McGee was the top Panther receiver on the night. He hauled in 6 balls for 125 yards, one of which was a 58-yard touchdown. Miles Weddington, DJ Jones and Marq Futrell all added touchdowns for the Panthers.
Defensive standouts for the Panthers were: Zach McGee, who led the team with 7 individual tackles, Colin LaBell, who recorded 6 tackles including a quarterback sack, and Andrew Hoppe, who recovered two Lion fumbles including one in the end zone for a touchdown.
This Friday, the Panthers are back on the road to play Francis Howell North in a GAC Central match-up. Due to construction at Howell North, the game will be played at Francis Howell Central. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
