Rodawald to grapple for the Eagles!

FZN Senior Rachel Rodawald to wrestle at Central Methodist.

FZN Senior Rachel Rodawald recently signed with Central Methodist University where she plans to wrestle for the Eagles. Rodawald was a relative newcomer to the sport of wrestling after previously having a background in mixed martial arts. Last season, competing in her first year as a member of the first ever all girls wrestling team at North High, she was one of the program’s top performers, notching top finishes throughout the season, including a 4th place District finish and finishing as the runner-up at the GAC tournament. An honor-student, who sports a lofty 3.9 GPA, Rodawald was a member of the conference’s “All-Academic” team. Wrestling, as a female only sport, was brand new to the state of Missouri last school year. The sport has seen tremendous growth over the course of the past several years with several colleges and universities now sponsoring the sport. This season, Central Methodist will field their first wrestling teams for both males and females. The university’s vice-president is former Lindenwood University wrestling coach Joe Parisi. Parisi coached 7 national championship teams at Lindenwood and has been instrumental in the growth of the sport. Rodawald hopes to follow-up on her success for last season with a trip to the state championships this winter.
