Rue to become an Ichabod!

FZN Senior King Rue to continue his football career at Washburn.

FZN Senior King Rue recently signed a "Letter of Intent" to play football for Washburn (KS) University. Washburn is located in Topeka, Kansas and is a NCAA Division 2 school that competes as a member of the MIAAA conference. Rue was a two-way stand-out for the Panthers the last two seasons, after playing at McCluer North his first two years of high school. During his time at FZN, the Panthers amassed in impressive 24 - 3 record and twice advanced to the state "Final Four". This past season, Rue repeated as a 1st team member of both the GAC Central "All-Conference" team and the "All-District" team at the wide receiver position. He had achieved both of those honors following his junior season. On the offensive side of the ball, Rue caught 45 passes for 566 yards and 5 touchdown in 2017. On defense, Rue accumulated 45 tackles with 4 sacks and 1 interception. Rue also plays basketball and runs track at FZN. Rue will join fellow FZN senior Mackenzie Menke, who also signed with Washburn to play soccer. In MIAAA play, Rue will match up against two former Panthers, Blake Wilson (Fort Hayes State) and Cade Brister (Lindenwood) who both currently play football in the highly regarded MIAAA conference.
