Shylanski to continue soccer career!

Fort Zumwalt North sends another to the college ranks.

FZN senior Madeleine Shylanski recently signed with Columbia College, located in Columbia, Missouri, to play soccer for the Cougars. Shylanski has been a three sport standout at FZN, earning varsity letters in volleyball, wrestling and soccer. At Columbia College, she will narrow her focus to soccer. A fleet of foot player, Shylanski primarily plays at the midfield position for the Panthers. This season she has accumulated 3 goals and 1 assist. Shylanski has been a mainstay in the Panther line-up since being called up to the varsity her freshmen year. An honor-student, who sports an impressive 4.2 GPA, she has earned “All-Conference” academic honors in each of her varsity seasons. Prior to, and during her high school days, Shylanski has acquired a plethora of club soccer experience, most recently competing for the Missouri Rush soccer club. Coming from a strong soccer family, Shylanski will join her twin-sister, Hannah, who recently signed with Westminster College, on the collegiate level.

Columbia College is a NAIA institution that competes in athletics as a member of the American Midwest Conference. Last season, the Cougar women’s soccer team completed the season an 18 – 4 mark, winning conference and advancing to the second round of the NAIA national tournament. At Columbia College, Shylanski will join fellow Panther alum, Belle Govero (Class of 2019), who has one season of eligibility remaining, on the Cougar squad. Shylanski plans on majoring in graphic design
