Simms hopes to make "Strides" at William Jewell!
FZN Senior Katie Simms signs with William Jewell.

FZN Senior Katie Simms recently signed a national "letter of intent" to continue her track and field career at William Jewell College located in Liberty, Missouri. A relative newcomer to the sport, Simms enjoyed a stellar junior season last spring for the Panthers. A gymnast for most of her life, Simms made the switch to track and field last spring after a injury shortened a promising gymnastics career. The move paid dividends for the Panther track and field team as she ranked as the leading point scorer for the team a season ago. She competed in both the sprint events and jumps for the Panthers, with the triple-jump being her specialty event. Simms currently ranks as one of the top 15 returning triple-jumpers in Missouri's Class 5 (large school) classification. She stands just 1 inch away from breaking the 37 year school record in the event. This spring she hopes for a strong follow up to last season's debut.
William Jewell is a NCAA Division 2 institution that competes as a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
