FZN Senior Sydney Sontheimer recently signed a “Letter of Intent” to play softball at Drury University located in Springfield, Missouri. Sontheimer was a four-year member of the varsity softball team at FZN. This past fall, she was selected as a member of the GAC Central “All-Conference” squad. It was the second consecutive season for Sontheimer to receive the honor. In addition, she was also a two-time “All-District” player during her career at North High. Serving as the team’s primary catcher in each of the past four seasons, Sontheimer was known not only for her defensive prowess but for her power at the plate. This past season, Sontheimer led all Panther batters with 5 home runs and 23 RBI’s while batting .305. An honor-student, Sontheimer was a 4-year member of the conference’s “All-Academic” team. Sontheimer has an extensive background in the sport, playing for local clubs the Missouri Fury and St. Louis Fusion.

Drury University is a NCAA Division 2-member institution. The Panthers compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Last spring the Drury softball program was a school-record 36 games.
