FZN Senior Gia Starman recently signed a “Letter of Intent” with Missouri State University, located in Springfield, to play soccer for the Bears. Starman has been a standout player for the Fort Zumwalt North soccer program for the last three seasons. Last spring Starman helped lead the Panthers to a 12 – 6 record, while playing from her defensive position. For her efforts, Starman was placed on the GAC Central “All-Conference” team. She was also recognized for her performance in the classroom earning conference “All-Academic” honors. A player with a plethora of experience prior to playing at FZN, Starman also competes for the highly respected Sporting Red-Devils club team that has captured state cup championships in each of the last three years.

Missouri State is a NCAA Division one institution that competes in athletics as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. Starman will be the second FZN player to compete for Missouri State, following in the footsteps of current Bear, Anna Durnin, who graduated from North High in 2017. This past season, the Bears finished with a 5 – 7 – 5 overall record. Starman is undecided as to what she will study, but is leaning toward business.
