The FZN boys swim team, aka the “Swimcats”, recently finished the regular season portion of their season. The team finished with an overall record of 9 – 5 in dual meet competition. The “Swimcats” also finished 4th at the 12 team FZN “Eastman” Invitational held in October. The highlights of season were the record breaking performances of individual team members: Nolan Dyer and Jake Farrar. Dyer set a new school mark in the 100 Butterfly by swimming the even in a time of 57.71. The previous record was held in combination by 2012 graduate Shawn Farrar and 1990 graduate Scott Kesler. For his efforts this season, Dyer earned a spot at the MSHSAA Class 1 State Championship in the event. Meanwhile, Farrar kept the 100 Butterfly record in the family by swimming the event in 1:05.92 to break his older brother Shawn’s record that was set in the fall of 2011. Farrar will also compete as an individual at the State Championships. In addition, to the individual records set by Dyer and Farrar, the 100 Medley Relay team consisting of: Dyer, Farrar, Ben Brown and Kenny Goeke also set a new school mark by swimming 1:49.04 in the event. The previous medley relay record was set in 2010. The 200 Medley Relay along with the 400 Freestyle Relay (an event featuring the same four swimmers) both qualified for the State meet.

The MSHSAA Class 1 State Championships are slated to begin this Thursday (11/14) at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. The competition schedule can be found at: https://www.mshsaa.org/cmspages/BSWChampInfoCentral.aspx
