Vaughn heads West!

FZN Senior Jaylin Vaughn to continue his football career.

FZN Senior Jaylin Vaughn has signed a "Letter of Intent" to attend Washburn (KS) University, located in Topeka, Kansas, to play football for the Ichabods. Vaughn was a 4 year starter for the Panthers on the gridiron. This past season his was named the GAC Central Defensive "Player of the Year". This was one of just several accolades bestowed upon Vaughn during his 4 years at FZN, a four-year span that saw the Panthers go an incredible 45 - 6 while winning four consecutive conference and district titles. The Panthers advanced to the state finals in 2016 and the state semi-finals in 2017. Vaughn, a team captain for the Panthers this past season, was used primarily on defense where he led the Panthers in tackles with 76 solo tackles and 17 assists. He amassed 17 tackles for a loss! For his efforts, Vaughn achieved 1st team "All-State" status. He was named to "All-State" 2nd team in 2016 and 2017. Although he primarily played on one side of the ball, Vaughn also rushed for 512 yards with an incredible 10.1 yards per carry average. He scored 13 touchdowns for the Panthers this past fall. Vaughn is also a member of the FZN Track and Field squad.

Washburn is a NCAA Division 2 school that plays in the highly regarded MIAAA conference. The MIAAA is considered the top conference in the nation for Division 2 football.
