Springfield to move forward with 'Ungap the Map' project as $24.8 million in grant funds are released (ksmu.org) — Springfield is moving ahead with its "Ungap the Map" plan to close 3.14 miles of missing links in the west-side greenway trails using a nearly $25 million federal RAISE grant that requires no local match. Recently approved by City Council, the project will add safer crossings, ADA-accessible sidewalks, bike and pedestrian facilities, and stormwater improvements, especially benefiting neighborhoods long affected by underinvestment.
   

2. Community Partnership of the Ozarks launches new child-care hub (ozarksfirst.com) — Springfield families now have a new child-care hub at the O'Reilly Center for Hope on East Dale, offering resources plus a 36-slot North Springfield Kids Inn facility with flexible hours for children six weeks to 12 years old. This second Kids Inn location in Springfield also features a new playground and upgraded spaces, aiming to make it easier for local parents to access coordinated support and reliable care.
   

3. Expedia layoffs at Seattle headquarters said to extend to Springfield office (sgfcitizen.org) — Expedia's latest round of corporate layoffs has reached its Springfield office, with finance staff receiving notices this week and the company consolidating roles and ending remote work in that department. Local headcount has already fallen from about 1,100 workers in 2022 to 910 in 2024, even as Expedia's Springfield facility—housed in the former airport terminal owned by the city—remains one of the company's largest U.S. operations.
   

4. Man accused of climbing into teen's truck with chain near Springfield; teen hospitalized (ozarksfirst.com) — A 17-year-old driver from the Springfield area was hospitalized after Greene County deputies say a Pleasant Hope man climbed into his truck near Highway H and East Lelia Lane and repeatedly struck him with a metal chain. The teen suffered facial cuts and a serious eye injury that doctors warn could threaten his vision, while the suspect now faces multiple felony charges and remains jailed pending a bond review.
   

5.
