Pediatric care center in Springfield marks milestone with final beam (news-leader.com) — A major new pediatric specialty care center is rising in Springfield, promising expanded children's services like outpatient surgery, urgent care, therapy, imaging, and more starting in 2027. Local leaders say the CoxHealth–St. Louis Children's partnership will let southwest Missouri families access world‑class care closer to home, reducing long trips for specialized treatment and strengthening Springfield's healthcare infrastructure.
   

2. SPS calls on public for input ahead of new facility master plan (ozarksfirst.com) — Springfield Public Schools is asking residents to weigh in on a new long-term facility master plan that could include consolidating or closing some schools as funding tightens. Two public meetings are set for Oct. 19 at Glendale High and Oct. 20 at Central High, where community feedback will help shape how more than $400 million in projected facility needs are prioritized.
   

3. Springfield City Utilities marks 20 years of Smart Solutions with new rebate (ky3.com) — Springfield City Utilities is celebrating 20 years of its Smart Solutions program by adding a new rebate of up to $300 for qualifying ENERGY STAR water heaters. Local residential customers can cut energy costs through rebates, smart thermostat Peak Rewards, and other efficiency programs, with details and expert help available online or by phone.
   

4. Performance-tested bull sale set for Oct. 26 in Springfield (kmzu.com) — Cattle producers around Springfield can look toward Oct. 26 for the Southwest Missouri All Breeds Performance Tested Bull Sale at the Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, featuring 39 carefully evaluated bulls. Before the 7 p.m. sale, MU Extension will host a 5:30 p.m. session on using genetic data to choose the right animals, and a catalog is available by request.
   

5. MSU names summer 2026 graduates (westplainsdailyquill.net) — Missouri State University in Springfield has awarded 460 degrees to its summer 2026 graduates, who are invited to join the Dec. 11 commencement at Great Southern Bank Arena. Local families can check ceremony details online and see that several area students earned bachelor's and master's degrees, including some graduating with honors after maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA.
