Comptroller Green Supports Selection Of Cure Violence Partners For Walnut Park And Dutchtown Sites

(St. Louis – July 15, 2020) Comptroller Darlene Green welcomes the selection of partners to implement Cure Violence in Walnut Park and Dutchtown.

"I am gratified that the city is ready to move forward with Cure Violence in these two additional neighborhoods, completing the three sites selected as part of our initial plan," said Comptroller Green. "The City of St. Louis is in the midst of a continuing crisis of violence. Tragically, we have seen an increase in homicides this year, and it is crucial that work get underway to interrupt the cycle of violence."

On July 9, Comptroller Green sent a letter to Mayor Krewson, requesting an urgent meeting of the selection committee. Mayor Krewson agreed and moved up the meeting of the selection committee to July 14. Had the meeting been held on the originally scheduled July 16, the selection would not have been made in time for the Board of Estimate and Apportionment (E&A) to approve at its July meeting.

"I am pleased that city leadership worked together this time, and I look forward to approving the selections at E&A today," said Comptroller Green.
