Ferguson Remembers Michael Brown 3 Years After Fatal Police Shooting | VIDEO
It's estimated nearly 3,000 Americans have died in police-involved shootings since Brown's 2014 death.

FERGUSON, MO — Three years after 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot multiple times by a Ferguson police officer, about 100 people gathered to remember the teen. They came to the scene of the Aug. 9, 2014 shooting on Canfield Drive, releasing one dove for each year of Brown's short life. "At the end of the day, everyone is Mike Brown,” his father, Michael Brown Sr., told the crowd, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “
In the three years since Brown's death sparked protests and drew outcry across the nation, an estimated 2,902 Americans have been killed in police-involved shootings, according to the Fatal Encounters website. The nonprofit maintains a database that tracks deaths caused during interaction with police.
In Ferguson on Wednesday, a group known as the Peace Makers did a dance routine to honor Brown, and his sister, 4-year-old Mi'Kelle Brown — too young to remember her brother — laid a rose at a makeshift memorial, the Post-Dispatch reported. The group observed 4.5 minutes of silence — one minute for each hour Brown's body lay on Canfield Drive after he was shot to death. "We can never forget this," one resident told the group. "This is ground zero."
