Residents react to new plans for I-55 bridge replacements over Loughborough and Weber in South St. Louis (firstalert4.com) — South St. Louis drivers, cyclists, and nearby residents face big changes as MoDOT finalizes plans to replace the aging I-55 bridges at Loughborough Avenue and Weber Road. The project will raise both bridges, redesign a crash-prone exit ramp, and add a bike-ped path, and officials are urging neighbors to complete an online survey before construction begins in late 2027.
   

2. St. Louis proposes legislation to streamline traffic calming measures (firstalert4.com) — St. Louis officials are pushing new legislation that would make it easier and faster for residents to request speed bumps, stop signs, and other traffic calming on neighborhood streets. The bill would centralize requests through the city's transportation staff, add an online transparency map, and prioritize safety and equity ahead of the new Department of Transportation launching in 2029.
   

3. Rideshare drivers voice fear after driver shot in Jennings (kmov.com) — A rideshare driver is in critical but stable condition after being shot early Wednesday on Lewis and Clark Boulevard in Jennings, according to St. Louis County police. Local Uber and Lyft drivers say the attack heightens their fears about working at night in the St. Louis region, while the daughter of a cab driver killed in 2022 urges more focus on preventing violence so drivers can safely support their families.
   

4. 'Why not us?': Business advocate says Lambert's welcome — and St. Louis' mindset — need work (firstalert4.com) — Lambert International Airport's look, feel, and confusing layout are drawing criticism from a longtime regional freight advocate who says first impressions can sway companies considering St. Louis. He's urging leaders to clean up surrounding roads, rethink the airport welcome, and even repurpose Terminal 2 as a logistics hub, arguing that a bolder mindset is key to growing jobs and flights here.
   

5. Flock camera in Shrewsbury damage (kmov.com) — Shrewsbury police are investigating how a Flock safety camera was knocked down and badly damaged at Big Bend and Shrewsbury, just outside St. Louis. Investigators are trying to determine whether a hit-and-run crash or vandalism is to blame, and note a similar recent attack on a Flock camera in De Soto that cost nearly $5,000 to repair. Damaging these cameras can bring felony property damage charges.
