St. Louis ends moratorium on water shutoffs for tornado victims, provides financial relief (stlpr.org) — St. Louis residents hit by the May 2025 tornado now face resumed water shutoffs unless they enroll in a new relief program that can cut their rates in half for two years. The city is forgiving bills for uninhabitable homes, waiving fees and interest for affected households, and urging people to sign up by Oct. 31 through the STLRecovers Outreach Center, phone, or website.

2. Woman charged with arson after wedging burning fabric into apartment door, police say (firstalert4.com) — A woman has been charged with first-degree arson after police say she tried to start a fire by wedging burning fabric into a tenant's door at a north St. Louis apartment on Peck Street. The tenant woke to smoke alarms and put out the flames, and surveillance video plus a police interview led investigators to identify and jail the suspect without bond.

AI used to clone St. Louis County roofing company's website (firstalert4.com) — A Kirkwood-based company, St. Louis Roofing & Siding, says an AI-built website copied its testimonials and credentials to lure roofing customers using a fake St. Louis address. After the owners and a TV reporter confronted the operators and contacted Amazon Web Services, the cloned site was taken down, and experts are urging St. Louis consumers to verify contractors with the BBB before hiring.

First Alert Forward: The impact of the aviation and aerospace industry in STL (firstalert4.com) — St. Louis' growing aerospace sector is supporting more than 18,000 local jobs, with recent expansions by Boeing, Gulfstream and others adding hundreds more positions.
