1. Court ruling puts McKee's North St. Louis properties in city's reach (stlamerican.com) — A St. Louis judge has cleared the city to seize 89 long-blighted North St. Louis properties tied to Paul McKee's stalled NorthSide Regeneration project, moving long-promised redevelopment closer for neighborhoods like Jeff-Vander-Lou, St. Louis Place, and Carr Square. The city must still value the parcels and pay before taking possession, and the developer plans to appeal, but local leaders say the ruling finally gives residents leverage to push for real investment near the new NGA campus.
   

2. 'Influx' Explores Queer Resilience Through the Natural World (outinstl.com) — A new exhibition by St. Louis-based artist Sarah Knight opens Sept. 25 at The High Low, a Kranzberg Arts Foundation gallery in Midtown. Featuring ceramics, works on paper, and paintings, the show explores queer and trans resilience through natural materials like clay, ash, and stone, and can be visited daily during café hours without an appointment.
   

3. Train derailed in Ferguson, police ask for the area to be avoided (kmov.com) — A nearby train derailment in Ferguson has knocked out power for parts of the St. Louis area from West Florissant and Ferguson Avenue to South Florissant Road, and police are urging people to avoid the area. Authorities say there are no signs of toxic spills or hazardous materials and no injuries reported so far, but crews remain on scene as this situation develops.
   

4. Principia College Students Win First Place at Washington University Skandalaris Hackathon (riverbender.com) — Principia College's Applied Computational Modeling Club took first place at Washington University's Skandalaris Hackathon in St. Louis with their Pentimento app, which turns room scans into 3D property models. The three-student team beat 25 mostly expert and PhD-level competitors and plans to refine and market-test their idea in the St. Louis region, adding to the area's growing tech and innovation scene.
   

5. Bernal, Herrera help Cards avoid sweep with 5-3 win over Nats (680kfeq.com) — St. Louis Cardinals fans saw Iván Herrera and rookie Leo Bernal power a late 5-3 comeback over the Nationals at Busch Stadium, avoiding a sweep in the final home series. The team now heads on a nine-game road trip, starting Tuesday in Pittsburgh, with Andre Pallante scheduled to start and radio coverage beginning at 5:30 p.m. on KY 102.
