• 20-year-old from Texas charged with making bomb threat in Gasconade County (krcgtv.com) — A false bomb threat phoned into Gasconade County's 911 system was traced back to a dorm room on Maryville University's campus in Town and Country, where deputies arrested a 20-year-old from Texas. Investigators say no explosives were found in Bland, Missouri, and the caller now faces a felony charge for making a false bomb report and has been released on bond.

• Straub's Markets to close Central West End grocery store (stlpr.org) — Straub's is closing its longtime Central West End grocery later this month, but its Town and Country, Webster Groves, and Clayton locations will stay open for local shoppers. The Central West End store will operate with reduced hours and a closing sale through Sept. 25 or until inventory runs out, while the building is being sold to new owners.
