West Plains Man Formally Arraigned From Alleged May 1st Incident Air Gun Shooting (ozarkradionews.com) — A West Plains man has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon after an air gun shooting on Shuttee left another man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. According to court documents, investigators say juveniles were involved and the attack may have been retaliation for an earlier incident, with the suspect now held on a $100,000 bond.
   

2. Community Foundation of West Plains Receives Large Donation (ozarkradionews.com) — A new $1.1 million endowment will fund long-term scholarships for graduates of West Plains, Willow Springs, and Liberty high schools who attend Missouri State University–West Plains to study medicine, education, or business. Created from the Robert L. Fant Trust, the fund will start accepting applications in January 2027 and is expected to significantly boost opportunities for local students and the regional workforce.
   

3. Troop G Trooper promoted (ecommnewsnetwork.com) — West Plains native Tyler D. Pond has been promoted to corporal with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and will help supervise Zone 4, serving northern Howell and Shannon counties. A graduate of West Plains High School and Missouri State University–West Plains, he has served Troop G since completing patrol training in 2014.

The agreement secures local jobs tied to key military systems built in West Plains, reinforcing the plant’s importance to both the community and national defense programs.
